When traveling with children, your hotel room will most likely get a lot of use due to naps, changing clothes, meal and snack times, etc. At the same time, you will also want to book a hotel room that is close to activities, as children tend to get worn out more quickly with lots of transportation, and you will want them fresh for the activities you have planned.
Below are a few kid-friendly features you should look for when booking your room:
• Large rooms that will give your kids enough room to move around and play.
• A separate seating area away from the beds/bedrooms that will allow the adults a place to hang out while children nap.
• Kid friendly restaurants that are onsite, or within walking distance, to avoid having to get kids in and out of the car, which can sometimes be a hassle within itself.
• A pool and/or other kid friendly amenities such as organized children’s activities.
• Free wireless internet, as it’s a great and quiet way for you to be entertained while your children are asleep.
• A refrigerator that will come in handy for storing drinks and refrigerated snacks.
• A kitchen that can be used to cook meals and snacks. This is also a plus because your family will save money by not having to eat out at every meal.
• A location which is within walking distance to markets, restaurants, coffee shops, etc., to pick up quick essentials.
Overall, whatever your budget, you should look for an accommodation in a central location that is close to attractions and offers easily accessible transportation or is so close to attractions, no transportation is needed.
If you are planning a summer vacation this year to Lake Geneva and are looking for a hotel which encompasses the above features, but sure to check out The Cove of Lake Geneva at www.cove-lake-geneva.com.

The ski hill offers 20 ski runs and 14 ski lifts on over 90 acres of property. This hill provides more beginner and intermediate ski experiences rather than advanced ones, making it perfect for a family consisting of all ages.

Snowmobiling
After Lake Geneva’s most recent snow fall, what better time is there than now to head to Lake Geneva and spend the weekend snowmobiling the trails of Walworth County?
Snowmobiling trails are located throughout Walworth County and connect to surrounding county trail systems. The maintenance, marking, and grooming of all the trails, are performed by local snowmobile clubs, making for the most enjoyable trails around this area.
By joining a local snowmobiling club (a family membership is $25 annually) you will receive maps, badges, and state and local newsletter subscriptions. Also, a member of any club is welcome on any other club trail in Wisconsin.
So come spend the weekend in Lake Geneva and enjoy the beautifully groomed trails of Walworth County.
Ice Fishing
No winter would be complete without spending a day on Geneva Lake ice fishing. So head on over to Lake Geneva and gear up for a weekend out on the lake.
Geneva Lake offers ice shanty rentals, as well as the largest selection of ice jigs and ice lures in Wisconsin, with over 80,000 in stock. You can even sign up for a guided ice fishing tour of Geneva Lake so you are sure to find the best spots for the fish you are looking to catch.

Enjoy a Christmas Away from Home this Year
Celebrating the holidays away from home at a travel destination? Spending a family Christmas vacation at a resort can be a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays and can be a great way to break out of the ordinary! Be sure to follow these few tips to make sure you don’t miss a step to ensuring your family has a wonderful holiday vacation away from home!
1. Play Santa
Be sure to wrap your gifts early if you plan on taking them for the trip. Be sure to package your gifts much more carefully than you would normally, especially if they are fragile, to avoid any damage that may occur during your travels. If you don’t have much extra room to travel with your gifts, ship them before you leave home. If you ship to the address that you will be arriving at, it will save you from traveling with them.
2. Don’t Forget
To ensure that you have a great family vacation, be sure that your trip and your planned activities are enjoyable for everyone in the family. Before you finalize any details, sit down with your entire family and make sure that each person has a say in something they would like to do while on vacation. Also, be sure that you have set aside enough time on your trip so that everyone can enjoy their favorite activities.
3. Weather Planning
If you are planning on partaking in outside activities, be sure to check the weather forecast. If you are going to check out one of Lake Geneva’s special holiday events while you’re in town, be sure you know the weather ahead and pack accordingly.
4. Arrive Early
When making travel plans, always check for road construction and road closings. The last thing you want to do on your way to your vacation destination is to get stuck in traffic if you can avoid it. Also be sure to leave at the appropriate time to avoid rush hour or congested roads.
5. Santa Questions
Planning on celebrating Christmas morning while you’re on vacation? When your children start asking questions like “How will Santa find me if I’m away from home,” have your responses ready and reply with reassurance that Santa is always watching!
And most importantly……….Have a Very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
